ANACOCOA

OVERVIEW

Collaborating with Anacocoa as their Lead Graphic Designer & Web Designer was an incredible opportunity to contribute to their inspiring mission of creating positive change. Anacocoa invites chocolate lovers to make an impact by supporting Haitian farmers, embracing fair trade principles, and enjoying a truly guilt-free chocolate experience.

Inspired by the legacy of Queen Anacaona (1474–1504), whose name means “golden flower” in the Taíno language, Anacocoa embodies the rich history of Haiti. Queen Anacaona ruled the Caciquat of Xaragua, an area located in present-day Haiti on the island of Hispaniola, renowned for preserving one of the rarest and most exquisite cacao varieties—Criollo.

Anacocoa’s mission is rooted in empowering Haitian cocoa farmers, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and delivering ethically sourced dark chocolate and cacao powder of unparalleled quality. By prioritizing a fair and transparent supply chain, they ensure farmers receive fair wages and equitable opportunities, fostering the growth of thriving communities and contributing to the economic development of Haiti.

It was a privilege to visually communicate their values and vision through impactful designs that highlighted their dedication to sustainability, equality, and the pure, rich flavors of Haiti.

Work with Anacocoa has continued from their launch in May 2023, to the present day.

SOCIAL MEDIA

I created visuals for the Social Media (SM) for Anacocoa, including bespoke content themes to promote their products, the page design elements such as banners, profile photos, story templates, highlight covers etc. – content is then later populated by the social media team who write the captions, scheduled posts. I play an active role in developing with media campaigns working closely with the SM team at Anacocoa. Examples are shown below:

META PROFILES

A social media profile is equivalent to how the front of a store, building or office looks. Imagery is important, I designed all of Anacoco’s social media graphics to be consistent with each other, having customised banners with different text to promote sales, promote sign-ups, and create a brand story. Anacocoa currently primarily promote their business on Meta platforms Instagram & Facebook.

SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS

Below is a selection of social media posts & story posts I have designed for Anacocoa linking to the launch of their website. Some other campaigns are also shown, this carousel is periodically updated.

WEBSITE DESIGN

I designed the UI and optical design side of the website focussing on maintaining the theme of the brand to give an artesian feel with the spirit of Haitian culture. Some screen grabs are shown below:

BRAND PRINT MEDIA

The print media for Anacocoa includes card handouts posted with each order, pop-up banners for event and conference promotions and business cards. The following sections showcase the bespoke designs I curated for this project.

POP-UP BANNERS

A good pop-up banner in the food and drinks market should let viewers know what the brand is about – a blunt approach was used for Anacocoa as an emerging brand. A banner serves as a striking visual centerpiece for events, markets, and retail displays. The banner was crafted to capture attention while providing an easy way for customers to connect directly with the brand through a prominently featured QR code.

The QR code is strategically placed to encourage interaction. When scanned, it directs users to the brand’s website, where they can learn more about Anacocoa’s mission, explore products, and make purchases. This seamless integration of physical and digital engagement boosts brand visibility and enhances accessibility for customers.

ORDER CARDS

I designed the front & back covers seen below. I carefully balanced the design to ensure it was visually engaging while maintaining readability and alignment with the brand’s identity. A unique promo code was also included to express gratitude to customers and encourage them to shop again. This approach not only builds customer loyalty but also fosters a sense of community around the brand’s values

CLOSING REMARKS

It has been a privilege to collaborate with Anacocoa and contribute to their mission of empowering Haitian farmers and promoting sustainability through exceptional design. My role as a graphic designer allowed me to bring their inspiring story to life visually, capturing the essence of their dedication to fair trade, community impact, and high-quality cacao products.

Through this project, I gained a deeper appreciation for the power of design in communicating purpose and creating meaningful connections with audiences. Anacocoa’s commitment to sustainability and equality is truly inspiring, and I am honored to have played a part in sharing their message with the world.

I look forward to continuing to work with passionate organisations like Anacocoa that strive to make a positive difference in the world.
